The GAMeS Hub was founded in 2020 as an initiative of the Institute for Business Administration (IfB) at WHZ, Faculty of Economics.

The GAMeS Hub is closely linked to the West Saxon University of Applied Sciences Zwickau through a cooperation agreement. As an interface between industry and academia, the GAMeS Hub promotes development in the region with regard to gamification and eSports, as well as cooperation with industry at the national level, through its teaching, research, and practical projects.

Currently, the GAMeS Hub comprises three main pillars:
Gaming/eSports = 30 members in the university league team;
Event organization = 5 student assistants;
Teaching/research = 3 professors/1 doctoral candidate.

The main purpose of the GAMeS Hub is to promote science, research, study, and help build a community around the topic of gamification and eSports. Through intensive knowledge transfer, research results are transferred to industry and society. This is reflected in the use of relevant transfer events organized by WHZ or the above-mentioned networks/associations, in active participation in trade fairs (e.g., planning the appearance of the joint Saxony stand at the invitation of the Saxony Economic Development Corporation) and in conferences organized by the IfB.
